Big Wins for HTLA

Congratulations to all of our competitors last weekend!
History Day

  • Paola Suarez and Plesresyla Ruelas for their documentary, "We Are Here, We Are Queer: The Stonewall Riots Taking a Stand Against Political, Economic, and Social Injustices Towards the Gay Community."
  • Truman Farr, Sara Saham, Izabella Silver, Adriana Figueroa, and Melissa Mejia for their documentary, "Taking a Stand Against "The World": The Newsboys of 1899."
  • Raffi Grigoryan, Britney Haddad, Wendy Young, Joshua Pinsky, and Tate Lagrisola for their exhibit, "The Reform League: Taking a Stand for Civil Liberties."
  • Isaac Bishoff, Wyatt Carleton, and Juliana Molina for their exhibit, "To Drink or not to Drink: Taking a Stand on the Controversy of Alcohol during the Age of Prohibition."
  • Diana Rudenky and Ekaterina Zhosan for their exhibit, "Florence Nightingale: Lady with the Lamp."

The above students won their respective categories, and will be attending the state competition in May.=
  • Sara Stoffmacher, Nicole Brachetti, Kristian Bacarro, Andrea Dontov, and Jane Duong also received Honorable Mention for their exhibit, "The Great Panic of 1866."
  • Thomas Larson, Edel Evangelista, Anan Haque, Brent Lin, and Timofey Vints was awarded Alternate, and will attend state if any of the exhibit winners are unable to attend.

There were many other finalists and all who competed presented quality work, worthy of recognition. You did HTLA proud!
